Dialecto is the AI conversation partner inside the Wika PH app. This page says what it sends, who receives it, and how to switch it off.

In plain terms

Dialecto's replies are AI-generated and can be wrong. Nothing is sent until you explicitly opt in, and declining leaves the rest of the app untouched. Your message text goes to Google, the reply text goes to Cartesia to be spoken, and — only if you use the microphone — your recording goes to Groq to be transcribed. All three are outside the Philippines. You can revoke consent at any time in Settings › Privacy & AI.

01What Dialecto is

Dialecto is an AI conversation partner inside the Wika PH app. You type or speak to it in a Philippine language, and it replies in that language so you can practise a real exchange.

Its replies are generated by an AI model. They are labelled as AI-generated in the app, every reply carries a report control, and they can be wrong — inaccurate translations, invented words, incorrect grammar, or phrasing a native speaker would not use. Treat what it says as practice material, not instruction.

02Nothing is sent until you say yes

The first time you open Dialecto, the app asks for your permission and explains what will be sent and to whom. Until you accept, nothing leaves your device on the Dialecto path.

Your answer is one of three states:

✦Never asked — the default. The consent sheet appears the first time you open Dialecto.
✦Granted — Dialecto works.
✦Declined — Dialecto stays off, and you are not asked again. Re-prompting somebody who has already said no is the pattern this rule exists to prevent.

Declining costs you nothing else. Lessons, the dictionary, streaks, hearts, missions, Hamon, the shop, and your profile all keep working exactly as before. Dialecto is the only thing that stops.

Your decision is enforced on your device. A copy is stored on your account so that reinstalling the app, or signing in on a second phone, does not ask you a question you have already answered.

03What is sent, and to whom

Two things worth stating plainly:

✦Cartesia never receives what you wrote or said — it receives the reply Dialecto produced, and speaks it.
✦Google, Cartesia, and Groq are companies outside the Philippines — sending your message to Dialecto means it is processed abroad. See Privacy Policy §10.

04Voice is a separate switch

If you never tap the microphone, no audio is ever sent — typing to Dialecto sends text only.

When you do use the microphone, the recording goes to our servers, and from there to Groq, to be transcribed. It is never sent to Groq directly from your device. A separate Voice upload switch in Settings › Privacy & AI turns this off on its own: with it off, Dialecto still works, but text-only, and the microphone path is disabled rather than merely hidden.

05Your content is not training data

Your messages and recordings are used to produce the reply you asked for. They are not used to train Wika's own models. The processors that receive them are named in Privacy Policy §4 and §5A; each handles what it receives under its own terms, which may permit it to retain that content for its own abuse monitoring.

06Turning it off after you have said yes

Settings › Privacy & AI › Dialecto AI.

Switching it off revokes your consent immediately. Any reply being generated at that moment stops, and any recording in progress stops with it. Nothing further is sent unless you turn it back on.

To remove what has already been sent, see account deletion (in the app, at Settings › Privacy & AI › Delete account) or exercise your rights under Privacy Policy §8.

07Reporting a bad reply

Every Dialecto response has a report control. Use it when a reply is wrong, offensive, or inappropriate — it tells us which response, in which conversation, so we can look at the actual exchange rather than guess.
